Kick Start Your Healthy Journey Today

Healthy eating, working out and being healthier always starts following Monday – and when Monday rolls around – it gets pushed back again.

This means that there is no finer time to start than right this moment. Of course, like anything, building good habits takes time – and you should take your time. Trying to change everything at once is a lot.

Take it slow, tackle one thing at a time.

Water

When was the last time you drank a glass of water? Was it within the last hour? If not, get yourself some water right now. You’re probably much more dehydrated than you think you are. Get a big glass of water, drink it down, and you have already started becoming better to yourself.

Many people struggle with drinking the right amount of water; if this sounds like you – invest in a bottle with a hydration reminder. It will beep at you when it’s time to drink more water.

Ditch the cigs

If you are one of the millions of people who still enjoy a cigarette, then it’s time to think about how much you live the habit.

Most people don’t enjoy the smell and will readily admit they are addicted to it. Interestingly smoking isn’t just about nicotine – it is also about the ritual. The time of day, the people you are with and more.

If you aren’t ready to change it all at once, then consider switching to vaping. Vaping, on the whole, is cheaper and less damaging than smoking cigs – find a vape shop that has a starter kit.

Get up earlier tomorrow

The more time you have, the more you can do with it. While you might not want to follow the billionaire morning – when they get up at 4 am and live a whole day before most people wake up, an hour might be ideal.

Wake up early and give yourself an extra hour to plan your day, drink tea in peace, or even work out if that is what you want to do.

Set goals

We often set life goals and work goals – but when was the last time you set yourself a wellness goal? Think about what will make you feel great.

Would it be benching 150kg, would it be running miles each day for fun? Perhaps losing an inch off the midriff.

Maybe, simply feeling healthier is enough to get you going.

One of your goals might be to try a week of vegan or vegetarian foods – check out the veggie-packed archive: Vegetarian and Vegan.

Overall wellbeing

Feeling healthy isn’t just about your body; it is about your mental wellbeing and emotional wellbeing too. Feeling good starts with a whole person approach – and not putting yourself under lots of pressure to get it right the first time.

Everyone starts their wellness journeys at different points, and progress takes time.

The starting point is to decide on changing how you live now and how you want your future to look. Find one area to change, and work on it for at least six weeks before introducing anything else. That way, you won’t be overwhelmed.
